Oasis Wines was formed in Hebden Bridge in the 1990’s by John Gumbley, initially serving wines and spirits at a great price to customers who weren’t particularly used to such variety and would have been happy with a bottle of Blue Nun!

Over time, Oasis Wines expanded to a full convenience store/supermarket, always with a remaining focus on providing great wine at a solid price.

When John retired he bought a small corner shop in Hebden Bridge, which was initially a newsagents, and got to work renovating it into his retirement project which resulted in The Remedy. The focus was to deliver a great atmosphere for people to try new wine and come back to familiar favourites, again focusing on wine not being prohibitively expensive.

John is no longer with us but his son, Richard, and the rest of the family are now responsible for keeping the values and atmosphere that make The Remedy a great place to visit and spend time in.
